McDonald’s Prepares For Sochi Olympic Games At Sundance 2014

We only wish everywhere we traveled, McCafe would follow. Our wishes were granted at Sundance Film Festival 2014, where McDonald’s set up their very own McCafe Lodge on Main Street. Celebrities such as Aaron Paul, Rose McGowan, Joe Manganiello and more cozied up by the Mcfireplace and enjoyed the coffee bar with freshly baked cookies and apple pie. After ordering a cafe mocha or hot chocolate, you had your choice of big comfy couches to lounge and take a break from the Park City chill. Just outside is a view of skiers and snowboarders hopping up on the Lift and traveling up the mountain.

In support of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and the U.S. athletes traveling to Russia, McCafe set up an entire cloth wall where Sundance attendees could sign their ‘good luck’ messages.

McDonald’s just launched a new social media campaign to connect fans across the globe with the athletes who will be competing in Sochi. Supporters in the New York Metro Region and around the world can send personalized messages and good luck wishes to their favorite athletes or teams by using the hashtag #CheersToSochi or by visiting www.cheerstosochi.com. The cheers will be shared via a special display in the Athlete’s Village in Sochi, where athletes can view and print their favorite messages onto ribbons to wear around their wrists. Athletes may even tweet their appreciation back to some lucky fans!

“This year, we wanted to be able to give fans a chance to feel more connected to the 2014 Olympics and athletes” said Tony Scari, President of the New York Metro McDonald’s Owner Operators Association. “We encourage New Yorkers to celebrate Team USA and its athletes by sending their own unique #CheersToSochi message.”
