Downtown Santa Monica Lights Up For The Holidays

The holidays are in full swing in Downtown Santa Monica for the community to celebrate the spirit of the season safely during Winterlit, an immersive holiday experience transforming the iconic Third Street Promenade into a winter wonderland of decor and free holiday-themed experiences through Sunday, January 3.

Enjoy a socially-distant stroll along the festive tree-lined streets adorned with tens of thousands of holiday lights, art installations, and a new interactive augmented reality experience while picking up holiday meals and festive treats for takeout.

Bring the family to enjoy a self-guided tour of the Winterlit holiday storefront art installations created by Los Angeles-based artists at eleven different stops throughout the Promenade, and in other areas of Downtown Santa Monica. A full map of the art installations is available online at downtownsm.com/winterlit and viewable along the Promenade. Children can also drop off their letters to Santa at his special mailbox placed on the Promenade and have them delivered to the North Pole. If the letters include a return address and are deposited by Sunday, December 13, Santa will write back.

Visitors can choose from three different interactive AR experiences by downloading the free EyeJack App on their smartphones in the App Store and Google Play store or scanning a QR code at the Promenade. Guests will watch Santa Claus and his reindeer magically appear, open a holiday gift, or find themselves at the center of their own winter wonderland. Snap a selfie using the app in front of the official City of Santa Monica 24-foot-tall holiday tree to share the fun virtually through magical photo moments with friends and family.

Restaurants and retailers along the Third Street Promenade have implemented a number of amenities to make holiday dining and shopping more convenient and easier than ever before including in-store and curbside pickup and takeaway dining options. Relax while being home for the holidays and leave the cooking to Downtown Santa Monica's finest restaurants and chefs while enjoying a holiday environment that is both festive and safe. Convenient curbside pickup locations make holiday shopping and takeaway dining easier than ever before. Parking is widely available in the downtown structures 1-8 including the Santa Monica Public Library or Parking Structures 9 and 10 just north of Wilshire Boulevard. Biking, walking and public transit are encouraged. Downtown Santa Monica parking structures 1-8 and Ken Edwards Center offer parking free for the first 90-minutes offering ample time to enjoy the holiday environment while picking up retail and dining orders.

DTSM remains committed to ensuring the health and safety of the community, visitors, and staff.
