Twin-Engine Plane Crash Lands On The 405 Freeway In Santa Ana

On Friday morning, a small twin-engine airplane (Cessna 310)  crash landed on the 405 Freeway in Santa Ana, California. 

The plane had taken off from John Wayne Airport moments before crashing and striking one vehicle.

Two people, who are said to be husband and wife, were on board the aircraft, according to Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the FAA. Their identities have not been released.

The pilot operating the plan was attempting to return to the airport.

The plane was in flames when emergency units arrived on site. No one on the ground was injured, according to Orange County fire officials.

The freeway was shut down in both directions as of 1:00PM PST, however the airport has opened for arrivals.
