On November 19th, Cassidy's son Beau Cassidy wrote on Facebook: Unfortunately David is very sick. However he is getting the support he needs, surrounded by the people he loves most. Thank you very much for your love and concern that you have expressed in your messages to him.

Just three days later, on Tuesday November 21st, 1970's teen idol David Cassidy died at the age of 67.

According to a statement, Cassidy died on Tuesday night in Florida after being hospitalized with organ failure. It was announced in February that Cassidy was diagnosed with dementia.

"On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy," the statement said. "David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance of love and support you have shown him these many years."

Cassidy was perhaps best known for his starring role on "The Partridge Family," a musical TV series which ran from 1970 to 1974.

The show brought radio hits with songs such as "I Think I Love You." On the show, Cassidy portrayed the family group's young heartthrob in the series, and became one of the decade's biggest teen idols in reality. Releasing several hit albums, Cassidy had a successful career as a solo artist for several years.

After the show, Cassidy continued to perform in concerts, on tour and with theater productions.
