Rock The Weekend 2/22/13-2/24/13

FRIDAY 2/22

Brandy

Where: Club Nokia

Every girl that grew up in the 90’s knows the lyrics to the sassy duet “That Boy Is Mine” by Brandy and Monica. This Friday, the Club Nokia is giving Angelenos the opportunity to see one half of the act. R&B and pop singer Brandy will take the stage ready to perform the best tracks from her nearly 20 year career. From her 1994 eponymous debut album to her 2012 release “Two Eleven,” and the four records in between, Brandy has a lot to choose from, so come prepared.

B.B. King

Where: House Of Blues (Anaheim)

Regularly showcasing rockers, pop and punk bands, sometimes the House Of Blues can be king of a misnomer. But not this weekend. Friday night, the eminent guitarist B.B. King will be filling the tin-roofed venue with nothing but blues. This Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee is definitely one of the most revered and respected guitarists of all time, and one of the most influential blues artists. This is your chance to catch one of the greats live and in the kind of location he was meant to perform in.

Coheed And Cambria

Where: The Wiltern

For Coheed And Cambria, genres are meaningless. Incorporating influences from prog rock, traditional rock and roll, alternative and post-hardcore, this group is pretty skilled at defying boundaries. Head out to the Wiltern this Friday to see them plow through the tracks on their concept albums. This is the best way to see the musical saga of their six studio albums unfold.

SATURDAY 2/23

Hellogoodbye

Where: The Glass House (Pomona)

The native Californians, Hellogoodbye, are coming back to the Golden State to perform at The Glass House this weekend. Most known for their electrified synthpop track “Here In Your Arms,” this musical quartet has a long list of other upbeat fun-infused tracks as well. If you go to see them on Saturday you might just get to hear some new stuff too. They are planning to release their third studio album this upcoming April.
